Colour aerial ortho photographs of The City are based on the Alberta Township Survey (ATS) sections. Photos may be used for personal or reference purposes, but may not be republished.
These orthophotos are derived from aerial photographs taken Saturday, June 22, 2013 between the hours of 8 AM and 9:30 AM MDT along the Bow and Elbow Rivers. The actual water position visible in the photography is from that time frame. These photos do not necessarily indicate the maximum high water line nor the crest line from the flooding on June 20 and June 21, 2013. There is no determination or inference regarding how water shown in the photo got there, e.g., water from overland flooding, sewer back-up, ground seepage, etc.
The colour orthophoto mosaic was created from approximately 400 images. The data was collected by Corporate Analytics & Innovation (IIS) during a State of Local Emergency in Calgary to produce a digital orthophoto of the flood areas along the Bow and Elbow Rivers. The City takes orthophotos on an annual basis.
Please note that these photographs do not represent the entire city of Calgary. They are limited to areas adjacent to the Bow and Elbow Rivers.
