For over 125 years, the Calgary Fire Department has been rescuing and protecting our citizens from fires, floods and accidents.
The Calgary Fire Department has gone from a volunteer fire brigade where men were paid 75 cents for each fire fought to a professional crew of over 1500 highly trained mean and women who protect a community of more than one million people. Under the watchful eye of Chief James ‘Cappy’ Smart, Calgary went from volunteers using horses to the first mechanized fire department in Canada. Today, we lead the way in international fire service with cutting edge technology protecting one of the fastest growing cities in Canada.
Celebrate this accomplishment and become a part of Calgary’s history by purchasing the CFD’s beautiful anniversary book, Yours for Life, 125 Years of Courage, Compassion and Service from the Calgary Fire Department.
All proceeds go to support the Firefighters Museum of Calgary.
