1. Introduction

The City Online Map Viewer can be used to view and purchase informational reports and maps based on various search criteria, including parcel addresses, communities, and Alberta Township System sections.

All users can preview various layers of spatial data. The categories of reports and downloads that a City Online Map Viewer user can access and/or purchase will depend on their user profile.

The City Online Map Viewer can be opened in all standard browser types, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

User Interface

The red numbers on the graphic indicate the major components of the user interface.

  1. Key Map - The key map is the graphic map area. It contains different layers that are blended together to form one visual representation. Use the Layer List on the Toolbar to access specific sections of information by enabling different layers.
  2. Application Menu - The application menu consists of Search, Report and Download menus.
    The Search menu offer users multiple ways to search for a property, community, block profile, ATS section, ward or quadrant.
    The Report menu lists pre-formatted property information reports.
    The Download menu lists downloadable pre-defined map products.
  3. Scale Bar

    The Scale Bar is used to display the current map scale. Scale is displayed in either metric or imperial measurements.
  4. Status Bar

    The coordinate readout displays the coordinates of the cursor position on the map and the map scale displays the current map scale.
  5. Toolbar - The City Online Map Viewer toolbar can be used to:
    • View different layers within the maps
    • Print maps and reports
    • Calculate onscreen measurements
    • Bookmark map views
    • Review information about the application

1.1 Layer List

Users can apply operational layers to the key map to add detail.

To expand or contract the list of Operational Layers click thearrow.

If a layer name is disabled (greyed out), use the

or buttons to zoom in or out to the required magnification until the required layer becomes enabled and can be selected.

1.12 Print

To print a customized map including the:

  • Map title
  • Map Scale
  • North Arrow
  • Copyrights
  • Disclaimer
  1. Click the Layout dropdown menu to select EnviroSite Reports, Map_Only or MapView.
  2. Click the Format drop down menu to select the format (e.g. PDF, GIF, JPG, etc.).
  3. Click Advanced to select printer settings.
  4. Click Print.

1.2 Measurement

To measure the internal area of a section of the map:

  1. Select the unit of measure from the drop down menu.
  2. Click around the perimeter of the area to be measured.
  3. Double click to stop the drawing and display the results.

To measure the distance between two points on the map:

  1. Select the unit of measure from the drop down menu.
  2. Click on the map at the start point and end point of the distance to be measured.
  3. Double click to stop the drawing and display the results.

To locate a point on a map:

  1. Select the unit of measure from the drop down menu.
  2. Click a point on the map to display the coordinates.

1.3 Bookmark

To bookmark a map view:

  1. Select a map view to be bookmarked.
  2. Click the bookmark icon.
  3. Enter a name for the view.
  4. Press Enter.

Use the following key combination to navigate around the map:

Mouse Wheel Up and DownZooms the map in or out
Left mouse + Shift Key + DragDrags a zoom box and zooms to the box.
Left mouse + Shift + Ctrl Key + DragDrags a zoom box and zooms out around the box.
Up keyPans the map up.
Down keyPans the map down.
Left keyPans the map to the left.

2. Search

Properties can be located by two different methods:

  1. Search by visual cues using layers and/or the map's zoom function to view parcels, lots and blocks in a scaled relational setting.
  2. Search by property-specific markers, such as parcel address, CPID, Title Number, Roll Number, LINC (Land Identification Numeric Code), or Legal Description.
    • Click the City Online Map Viewer icon.
    • Click Searchin the application menu.
    • Select a search type from the Search Features window.
    • Enter the required information in the Search Features Queries screen
    • Click Search ​

    3. Report

    All reports require the user to make a selection of the property (parcel) boundaries first. The parcel of land that is reported on can be defined by three different methods:

    1. Search by property-specific markers. After one or more properties is selected, click Report to open the dialog box to select report types.
    2. Search using the selection tools within the Report function.
    3. With the Layers List open on the Toolbar:
      • Use theorbuttons to zoom to the correct magnification until the required layer is activated.
      • Select the parcel boundaries using the Point selection tools.

    The City Online Map Viewer Report menu includes the following:

    • Textural Reports
    • MapView Map Reports
    • EnviroSite Map Reports
    • Stormwater Reports
    • MDPs Reports

    3.1 Textural Report

    Select Properties

    Displays the CPID and address for theproperty(ies) selected.

    Select Report Types: The user can select one or multiple report types. Click View Sample to preview a sample image document. The report price is indicated in red.

    • EnviroSite Premium plus NeighbourhoodView

    3.3 EnviroSite Map Report

    4. Selection Tools

     



    To use the selection tools:

    1. Use theorbuttons to zoom in to the approximate map location to be reported on.
    2. Click Report or Download in the application menu.
    3. Select a report type.
    4. Choose a selection tool.
    5. Follow the tool tip instructions to define the required map area.
    6. Select the required report(s) from the select Report Types list.
    7. Click Add to Cart.

    5. Download

    All downloads require the user to make a selection of the parcel boundaries first. There are three ways to select boundaries:

    1. Search by property-specific markers, such as Community Name, ATS Section, or Block Profile
    2. Search using the selection tools within the Download function.
    3. With the Layers List open on the Toolbar:
      1. Use theorbuttons to zoom to the correct magnification until the required layer is activated.
      2. Activate the Section, Community and/or Block Profile layer(s).
      3. Select the parcel boundaries using the Pointselection tools.

    5.1 By Section Reports

    Select Properties:Displays the property(ies) selected. By default, all search results will be selected. Deselect properties as needed.

    Select Report Types:Lists products depend on the user's login profile. The user can select one or multiple report types. Click View Sample to preview a sample image document. The report price is indicated in red.

    Add to Cart: Click to add selected report(s) to cart for purchase.

    Clear: Click to remove selected properties. This command does not clear the selected report types.

    5.2 By Community

    Select Properties: Displays the community(ies) selected. By default, all search results will be selected. Deselect communities as needed.

    Select Report Types: The Communities by Name report will be available. Click View Sample to preview a sample image document. The report price is indicated in red.

    Add to Cart: Click to add selected report(s) to cart for purchase.

    Clear: Click to remove selected properties. This command does not clear the selected report types.

    5.3 By Block Profile

    Select Properties: Displays the property(ies) selected. By default, all the EBP numbers will be selected. Deselect properties as needed.

    Select Report Types: The Electronic Block Profile report will be available in either AutoCADD or TIFF format. Click View Sample to preview a sample image document. The report price is indicated in red.

    Add to Cart: Click to add selected report(s) to cart for purchase.

    Clear: Click to remove selected properties. This command does not clear the selected report types.

    6. Purchasing Reports and Downloads

    When all required products have been selected, return to the City Online window to view and purchase the product(s) in your Shopping Cart.

    Purchases are paid for by corporate credit card or by invoice, depending on the user's log-in profile. By using the Corporate Credit Card Client log-in profile, all download and report products are credit card purchase-ready. Other log-in profiles offer the ability to invoice as product availability varies.
